"Thoughts on selling art"

As an artist myself I know there’s always someone out there who thinks your work is too expensive, and I tell you this: those people are not your target audience. Instead, you need to focus on the people who are going to appreciate your work, and you need to find ways to show your work to that unique group of people. And from personal experience, most of the time, your friends and family aren’t your target audience.

As a person who has never created and sold anything, some buyers simply don’t understand how long it takes to make a piece of art and the struggle behind it.

Because art is subjective, for every person who says your price is too high, there’s always someone else who thinks you’re charging too low. It’s up to you to determine what you think you’re worth.

Don’t feel guilty because someone doesn’t understand how much work and time you put into your artwork. Even if you sell your work at a lower price, it’s still going to be too expensive for some people.

Your art isn’t too expensive just because people can’t afford it. Remember that your art is priced by your talent, not by their budget!
